At Wanyuepo Beach on Huandao Road
A tourist said, 'After we're done, we'll clean this place up completely, as if we were never here.' Soft music and the sound of waves intertwined, creating an atmosphere for the New Year's Eve celebrations. Four hours before the New Year's bells rang, tents had already been set up on Wanyuepo Beach.
“A few of us girls are planning to camp here for the Chinese New Year,” said Ms. Zhu, a tourist. “It’s very quiet here, and it’s convenient to stay at a nearby hotel at night.” Pointing to the wet wipes and trash bags beside her, she said, “After we’re done, we’ll clean this place up completely, as if we were never here.” Not far away, Mr. Cai and his family were having tea by their tent. “I arrived at 2 pm and snagged this great spot near the greenbelt,” he explained. They had already set up their tent and were ready to celebrate the New Year there. “We didn’t bring much food, so we’ll try to minimize litter. Tonight, we’ll listen to the waves, chat, and quietly welcome the New Year.”
To protect this beautiful environment, the Binhai Subdistrict of Siming District launched a multi-party collaborative mechanism during the holiday. Urban management, traffic police, and municipal departments jointly conducted environmental patrols, while volunteers moved between the tents, promoting the concept of “Leave No Trace Camping.”
